Instructional Course for Orthopaedic Trainees using Anatomical Specimens

26th – 28th October, Lille, France

As part of Biomet’s on-going commitment to support Training and Education for Orthopaedic Trainees, we are pleased to be able to announce an Instructional Course for Trainee Orthopaedic Surgeons on Hip and Knee Replacement using Anatomical Specimens to be held at the Medical University of Lille.

The Course is aimed at those Trainees who are assisting at Hip and Knee Replacement operations and are about to start operating themselves. There will be a mixture of lectures, demonstrations of procedures to camera and hands-on sessions using anatomical specimens, during which delegates will be able to practice cemented and cementless THR along with CR and PS TKR.  Partial Knee Replacement, Revision Knee and Hip Resurfacing will be demonstrated to camera with questions and discussions to cover the issues involved in these areas. Modern Cementing Technique for both Hip and Knee is also included, with the delegates able to practice using sawbones. Other topics, such as material technologies, patient assessment, X-ray interpretation and indications, will be covered in the lectures. Click here to view the Outline Programme. The Course will run from midday on Monday 26th October to lunchtime on Wednesday 28th October.

The Anatomy Facility at Lille offers 16 tables for the practical sessions, so, with 3 delegates per table, it means a maximum of 48 places on the Course.  The specimens are preserved using a “soft-fix” process to provide a realistic experience.

Lille itself is easily accessible, either by road or by the Eurostar train - there is a direct rail link from Paris Charles De Gaulle airport to the Lille Eurostar station.
